Hi Everyone,

I’m Michael Lodge-Paolini, aka Mike LP and last week I joined Cesium’s core team at AGI as Developer Relations.

What that means for all of you is that you now have a point person on Cesium’s core team whose primary responsibility is to get to know you and understand how you use Cesium. I’m going to be active on the forums, answering questions, discussing industry news and in general getting to know you. I also plan on attending and talking at industry conferences and traveling to developer meetups whenever possible.

What drew me to this position was the chance to share my passion for Cesium. I’ve been a die hard fan since I completed my first proof-of-concept 18 months ago using it. I needed an alternative to Google Earth for a project that gave me fine camera controls, custom imagery providers and didn’t crash every few minutes. Cesium fit the bill perfectly and I hope to help other developers out of the cold as well.

Aside from my day-to-day interactions with everyone I have 2 projects that I’ve already started to work on:

Website Update: The Cesium website was built a while ago and is showing its age. We need to have it be responsive, both for content, documentation and Sandcastle. We also need to reorganize the content to make it easier for all of you to find what you’re looking for.

Cesium Education: I’m going to rework all the tutorials and ‘getting started’ guides. We want to reduce the barrier to entry and really help streamline the learning process.

I’m excited to have the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way to the strong features of Cesium and its community of users.

Thank you!

-Mike LP
